My Gift From God

04/12/2021

Take a second and tell me of something you love to do and can do really, really well. Okay, write it down. That may have been easy but the next exercise is more difficult. Is it the only one? If you do have more than one, write them down as well. I'll wait. Then list them in order of which one you like best. What you have done is told yourself one, or more of your God given abilities God wants you to share in this world. Just so you know, they also are connected to all the other people in this world.

Many times the one activity we are best at is what we love to do and in many ways, comes naturally. It could also be something that you thought you might like to give a try and you kept doing it time after time. In all cases, you work at being the best at what you love to do. I know some people that love teach, while others have an affinity to share their gift with the world as they paint pictures. Something else I'm reminded of is some people love to listen, love to help others or just share the joy we have in what we love to do.

You see, all our likes and dislikes are part and parcel of who we are and what turns our crank. That phrase probably originated when cars only had a crank you turned to start the car. It could also have something to do with how God made us. Not everyone can do the things we are able to do as well as we are able to do them. (Phil.4:13)

I learned a long time ago that you encourage children in school to spend time on what stirs their heart. When you do, they will apply that enthusiasm to most all the other subjects. If you really want to know, I learned it in my own life in grade 8. And this was way before I learned the theory behind the practicality of that statement. If you want to know what happened in Grade 8 at Burkholder Middle School, drop me and email or give me a call.

So, if God created you to be enthralled with His gifts and talents in you, (read that as 'us') begin to use them for His glory. I also know this: God gave us gifts and talents specifically to be used for His kingdom. And if you don't use them, He will need to find someone else to do it. But listen to this, you are the one He called to do it and no one else can do it as good as you can.

Fulfillment in life comes when we share our gifts and talents. If you learn anything from today's message it needs to be - using His gifts in you, leads others to Him and that my friends is the GIFT that keeps on giving - for eternity.

Something to think about.
