Your Goals

10/11/2021

A few days ago something happened in our lives that we have been waiting for a long time. It's called normality. Many of us had dinner together, and we were Thankful. We laughed, and brought everyone up to date on what has been going on in our lives over the last two year, and sighed a wonderful sigh of relief. We all know we have not arrived but we know the goal is just before us. We just have to keep the faith.

Now that is a line many of us have used over the last two years. We were thinking it, but did we believe it? The difference between faith and thinking is a giant step that is deeply ingrained within each one of us. In some cases, faith is what drives us to the goal we aspire to reach. Just like those who, on the same weekend started the Boston marathon, we held on to the dream of getting back to normal, if there will ever be the old normal again. But those few short days ago, we tried to hold on tightly. The runners had trained and worked at all those things that could prepare them for the race set before them. Now, there is the third part of the equation. Think, faith, and most definitely work!

Interestingly, these three items of normalcy are working together in many parts of our life and it happens not more so than in our spiritual journey. Most of us realize all areas of life need work, we need faith and thinking and work in the areas of life, physical, relational, social, emotional, mental, spiritual. They are all part of our being and who we are.

Spiritually, we first think about what we have heard about who Jesus is. Once we realize the truth of it, takes hold of our heart, and we call this 'having faith'. What a new life this is. Lastly we realize there is more to do. There is learning, and growing and reaching out for heavenly direction, where God walks with us down this road of life in Christ.

And just like the pandemic, we have further to walk or run, to reach the calling of God on our life that will culminate in the crossing of the finish line knowing we have run the race and won the prize.

In all areas of life we have a goal, but none more important that an eternal goal.

Something to think about.
