Good & Great

06/14/2021

'We are so blessed. . .' These are words from a most beautiful hymn by the Gaither's that we sing on occasion. And for many reasons these words came echoing back in the quietness of this wonderful morning. Just sitting, reflecting and listening to God as He teaches me something more about what He gives to us. No, it's not entirely in the song or in the verse that reads; "Be still and know that I am God."

It's just moments like these that make us realize more profoundly that another verse moves my heart, knowing; 'every good and perfect gift is from above'. And again no, they may not be the big thundering lightening that crashes down on us showing His might. It may be when somehow and in some way, He nudges us in ways we never dreamed of.

So, let's think about this for a minute or two. What gift did we notice today that was good? With me, I can say that I'm still doing well and that's good. How about you? Some individuals we know are worse off than we are, but they say they are good in other ways we don't even notice, understand or comprehend. There are times and things in our lives that make us smile and that is good. It could be the fragrance of the rose bush at the end of the driveway when God blows the wonderful fragrance into the car , or how about the smell of fresh roasted coffee as the person hands you one at the drive through first thing this morning?

There are many more good things in our life that God plants along our path of life. Many come and go and we seldom take notice. Then we have those great gifts that move us in the splendour of the moment. God does produce some amazing WOW moments for all of us doesn't He? I have mine and you have yours, because they are yours alone. We recognize them not for their size but for the feelings we have when something happens. It's a moment in time when God impacts us, just to show us He is here and He loves us. Things like a dog licking your face because they are so glad to see you. And God is glad to see us. Or we think of the once in a lifetime experience that came only once and you knew God did it for you at that very moment to let you know that it was His way of touching you. Case in point; mine was one moment when thousands of butterflies descended on my back yard and their wings brush against my face.

You will have many more that I may never know but that is the beauty of God. He gives us what we need when we need it and in those good and great moments, we feel blessed that He took a moment to tell us He loves us and He will always be there even when we don't notice that it is Him. Reminisce or go looking, a good and great moment even today. Then tonight, write me to tell my about your moment with Him.

Something to think about.
