Do Unto Others
At this time in history you have probably noticed, it seems like we have more focus on trials of living life then we ever have before. We get out of the car to go into a store and get all the way to the door and have to turn around and go back and get a mask. Then all of a sudden you realize you are not six feet apart and back up only to be three feet from the person behind you.
A few weeks back some lady turned around to Deb and told her
to back up and get six feet away, to which Deb said to her, 'Well, where's your
mask?' I wonder if we are focused on the ourselves more than we are focused
on others? Just like having to stay home for four weeks and how much of a problem
it might be. Or how about all those re-runs on tv. After all, 'we want our
freedom!' Which reminds me, isn't there a verse in the bible that talks about
not causing another person to stumble? Sort about being an example. But there is more to this.
On top of going through the motions of staying safe, we are focused on paying bills, having a job, our elderly parents and friends, (Like Me) etc. At one time we were foot loose and fancy free. Now, we have to think of too many things and situations, where and when we can go somewhere etc. The list now is endless. But it is focus mostly on 'me'.
I learned a long time ago about how we will be happier if we stop focusing so much on ourselves and start to think of those who are less fortunate then we. And not only should we take the focus off of ourselves but doing something for others were we can give them a helping hand. Just like the Sobey's commercial before Christmas.
In my bible I very seldom see Jesus focus on Himself. Even
at the well where He wanted a drink, He offered Living Water. Or, when
He went to
God just before dying His prayer was for the disciples and - ready - for
us!
Back to the women at the well, I can only imagine the smile on His face
when He
made the offer of Living Water, in spite of still waiting for a drink.
Did you
just smile at this mental picture as you see her running to town to
tell the whole village? Jesus probably then helped Himself.
Awesome Right? Now love your neighbour as yourself.
Something to think about
