Catching Up On Ourselves

05/10/2021

Two things have happened since Covid-19 appeared. First, people isolated and secondly, we took care of things we had put of due to the isolation from normal life. We've had more time. The the prices of construction material went through the roof just like the price of toilet paper at the start. Just so you know, there is lots of wood out there but it's being kept in warehouses out of sight to keep the prices high.

But back to the issue at hand. In the last 14 months, we have either taken care of things in our lives or just sat back and slowly but surely slowed down to a crawl. We ate, slept and watched tv while backing away from life. It may have been at this low point, where many of us started fighting to take back our lives where we could. Many started learning new things. Going on YouTube and learned how to knit or build a bird house. Our kids education prompted us, as we learned the subjects we had to teach them and taking it one step further. After all, if they have to keep learning maybe we need to as well. So, that's the mental.

The next thing was to get well. We wanted to be trim and fit, lose weight or just eat properly. Again, we jumped on the internet and started learning many things like walking is the best thing you can do and still stay at a distance. Even learning things like oranges are good for diabetics. But don't drink the juice. We bought stationary bikes and fitness watches to keep track of how healthy we are or getting to be. Ah, two items down. Next.

Mental, physical and next we moved to relational. Who ever heard of Zoom, or Whereby before the pandemic came along. I'm so old I only knew about conference calls and one person face-time or Messenger. If we couldn't be with the person we wanted to talk to face to face we learned other way beyond Alexander Graham Bell.

But what are we doing in the last area of the human psyche? That area would be, spiritual. We have been told to stay home. They kept lowering the number of individuals allowed in the building at each event. No interaction, no music or songs to sing, no message to hear in person. Once again, we have taken hold of the internet and kept going, kept teaching, listened to new ways to sing about the most important relationship in our lives. Milton Baptist was on line the first Sunday of the first lock down on March 12 2020.

What I have learned from this pandemic is, we have lots of time, lots of time to work on every area of our lives including our relationship with God. He is there Hallelujah, He is there Amen. Soon and very soon, all of us who miss being in the building will be back and back together. During these last 14 months I have prayed that each one of you have rediscovered a special time alone with God, a time to reflect and prepare for the great gathering where we worship and praise Him together.

Something to think about

Rob
